Belize introduces 12.5% tax on internet services

The Belizean government formally applied a 12.5% general sales tax (GST) on internet and data services as of 1 April 2018. The decision prompted an outcry from local ISPs when it was outlined in the government’s budget presentation for fiscal year 2018/2019, but subsequent protests fell on deaf ears, and the taxation measure was implemented as planned.
