Sky Italia nears broadband deal with Open Fiber

28 Mar 2018

Reports from Italy suggest that pay-TV provider Sky Italia is close to agreeing a deal to offer broadband internet services over the networks of wholesale access operator Open Fiber. The contract, which will begin in 2019, could be signed as early as this week. The accord will give Sky Italia access to the ultra-fast broadband network that Open Fiber is laying in more than 270 Italian towns and cities, Reuters writes, citing an unnamed source. Talks between the two parties were reported to have begun last August, with Sky keen to bundle its pay-TV service with broadband internet access, as it already does in the UK.
