MTS group annual sales climb 1.7%

Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has posted a 1.7% rise in annual revenue for 2017 to RUB442.9 billion (USD7.7 billion), of which domestic turnover accounted for RUB412.3 billion (up 2.9% year-on-year). Group EBITDA climbed 6.2% to RUB179.8 billion (including Russian EBITDA up 5.7% to RUB171.8 billion), and net profit jumped 15.6% to RUB56.0 billion.

The group’s total mobile subscribers fell 3.1% year-on-year to 106.5 million at 31 December 2017, including: Russia (78.3 million, down 2.2% y-o-y); Ukraine 20.8 million (down 0.2%); Belarus 5.2 million (up 0.5%); and Armenia 2.1 million (up 1.3%).

In its financial statement for 2017 MTS recorded an asset impairment loss in Turkmenistan of RUB3.2 billion, following suspension of all services in the country from the end of September due to actions by state-owned Turkmentelecom resulting in the disconnection of international, domestic long-distance and internet access services.
