15 Mar 2018

Telkom is migrating customers in selected areas to newer technologies, due to a requirement by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) for the return of TDMA spectrum no later than 31 March 2018, TechCentral writes. Telkom used the frequencies to provide services in selected rural areas of the Western, Northern, and Eastern Cape. The company disclosed that the migration process has affected approximately 14,000 customers across the country, adding: ‘Customers have been contacted in various forms, including a message on the affected customer’s line to inform them of the requirement to migrate to an alternative service.’
