Mauritania to add 1,600km of fibre backbone this month

Mauritania’s Ministry of Employment and ICT says that 1,600km of new fibre-optic backbone network will be launched this month under a project funded by the West Africa Regional Communication Infrastructure Program Support Project (WARCIP). Ministry spokesperson Mohamed Ould Ahmed Abderrahmane is quoted by Agence Ecofin as saying that the new infrastructure will ‘open up many areas of the country’, enhancing both intra-regional and international connectivity.
