Algerie Telecom Satellite prepares triple-play service

13 Mar 2018

Algerie Telecom Satellite (ATS), a wholly owned subsidiary of state-backed Algerie Telecom, is preparing to widen its customer base by launching a triple-play broadband internet, telephony and television service for the Algerian market, reports Agence Ecofin. To support the project, ATS CEO Mohamed Anouar Benabdelouahad said that discussions have been initiated with two Algerian companies, Enie and Inatel, ‘for the manufacture of a turnkey pack consisting of an antenna, a modem and a satellite receiver’. ATS is aiming to capitalise on the recent launch of the nationally-owned satellite Alcomsat-1 – currently in a test phase – to boost revenues.
