Ukraine will hold the auction for 4G LTE mobile licences in the 1800MHz frequency band on 6 March 2018, with envelopes containing the initial price proposals of the three participants – Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine and Lifecell – to be opened in advance on 2 March, Liga.net reports. Three blocks of 1800MHz spectrum are already guaranteed to the operator trio, who will compete for a further three bidding lots in the auction. Kyivstar will pay UAH1.325 billion (USD48.7 million) for a 2×25MHz block, Vodafone Ukraine will be charged UAH1.06 billion for 2×20MHz, and Lifecell is guaranteed 2×15MHz in return for UAH795 million. The remaining three 2×5MHz blocks each have starting prices of UAH265 million, and are all available to the highest bidder.
Earlier this year the same three operators all won 2600MHz LTE mobile licences – the first 4G concessions awarded in Ukraine.
