New Zealand telco Spark has recorded a 3.4% fall in its net profit for the six months to 31 December 2017, to NZD172 million (USD126.3 million). The firm attributed the first-half decline to NZD13 million of costs associated with its business transformation programme. Operating revenues climbed 1.6% year-on-year to NZD1.82 billion, however, with strong growth in the mobile sector, as sales rose 8.0% to NZD635 million. Revenues from fixed broadband services fell 0.9% to NZD341 million. The number of mobile subscribers rose 3.6% to 2.44 million, while broadband connections climbed 2.8% to 694,000.
