ER-Telecom set to scoop another couple of minnows

Russian fibre broadband/telephony and cable TV operator ER-Telecom ( is continuing its acquisition spree, with the news that its board has approved takeover bids for two triple-play providers belonging to the Telemir group, Telemir Company and Michurinsk-Svyaz-TV, serving the Lipetsk and Tambov regions, respectively. As reported by Broadband TV News, the combined value of the assets is believed to be over RUB200 million (USD3.45 million) and will enable ER-Telecom to increase its share of the local broadband market in the Lipetsk region from 14% to 20%, whilst entering the Tambov region for the first time.

ER-Telecom is Russia’s second largest fixed broadband provider in terms of subscribers, behind Federation-wide operator Rostelecom, but narrowly in front of the Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) group (including MGTS).
