Swiss state-owned telco Swisscom has recorded a 0.2% increase in net revenue for the full year ended 31 December 2017, with revenue growth of 10.6% at its Italian ISP division Fastweb offsetting the 2.2% drop in turnover from its core domestic business. Net revenue for the year was CHF11.66 billion (USD12.41 billion), up from CHF11.64 billion in 2016, whilst EBITDA was flat at CHF4.30 billion. Net profit for the year was CHF1.57 billion, down 2.2% from CHF1.60 billion in 2016. The telco attributed the slight decline in its Swiss business to the continuing deterioration of the fixed line telephony segment, and a drop in revenue from roaming services. Swisscom noted that the launch of its ‘inOne’ inclusive bundles in February 2017 has helped drive subscribers towards converged offerings, with the number of users taking bundles increasing by 14.1% year-on-year to 1.907 million. Swisscom’s wireless subscriber count remained stable at 6.637 million in December 2017 (6.612 million at end-2016) whilst fixed broadband accounts grew by 1.1% to 2.014 million, with the telco noting that its Swisscom TV offering was a strong driver for this expansion.
