PCCW Group’s Hong Kong telco business HKT has reported a 2% drop in turnover for the twelve months ended 31 December 2017, to HKD33.3 billion (USD4.3 billion). The decrease was attributed to a lower revenue contribution from mobile handset sales. EBITDA was up 2%, however, at HKD13.0 billion, while net profit for the year climbed 4% to HKD5.1 billion.
In operational terms, HKT had 4.41 million mobile subscribers at the end of 2017, down from 4.51 million a year earlier, while the number of total broadband access lines rose from 1.57 million to 1.59 million over the same period. Fixed telephone connections fell by 10,000, to 2.64 million.
