Sweden-based Telia Company has reported net sales of SEK79.87 billion (USD10.11 billion) for the twelve months ended 31 December 2017, down 5.1% year-on-year from SEK84.18 billion. The group’s adjusted EBITDA also dropped in full-year 2017 to SEK25.44 billion from SEK25.84 billion in 2016, representing a decrease of 1.5%. Telia Company’s total net income rose to SEK10.15 billion over the twelve months ended 31 December 2017, a significant increase from the year-ago figure of SEK6.50 billion. This increase was helped by Telia’s decision to sell its entire stake in Russian cellco MegaFon for USD1.04 billion in October last year.
In operational terms Telia Company increased its total number of mobile subscriptions in full-year 2017 to 16.68 million, up from 16.56 million in the corresponding year-ago period. The group saw growth in all of its European markets, except for Denmark and Finland, where mobile customers were down by 7.9% and 0.9%, respectively.
