On the back of a brand repositioning exercise in which it has united all of its retail services under the ‘unifi’ banner, Telekom Malaysia has said it is aiming to attract around half a million new fixed broadband subscribers this year, according to New Straits Times. Imri Mokhtar, Executive Vice President of TM’s unifi division, was cited as saying that to achieve this goal it will aggressively market its services this year, noting: ‘With the launch of our marketing campaign nationwide, which includes door to door marketing effort, we target to grow the number to 1.5 million subscribers by end 2018.’ Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that the Malaysia telco is aiming to significantly increase the number of Wi-Fi hotspots it has in operation. According to the report, Imri said that TM plans to boost the number of hotspots from the 10,000 it currently has, to 100,000 by the end of 2017.
