T-Mobile CR extends TV reach with DTH launch

24 Jan 2018

Broadband TV News reports that T-Mobile has expanded its offer in the Czech Republic by launching a new generation satellite TV service. The new ‘T-Mobile SAT TV’ is available in 100% of the country it says, and is being offered as an alternative to users in areas where its IPTV service is not fast enough. Commenting on the service launch, Juraj Bona, T-Mobile Czech Republic director of marketing, said: ‘We want to offer modern digital TV with a wide range of programming, where it is not possible to use our IPTV platform T-Mobile TV due to the lack of infrastructure and speed of the internet.’ Bona went on to point out that the ‘customised’ T-Mobile SAT TV platform is based on a solution developed and tested by sister company, Slovak Telekom, whose offer is used by half a million customers in Slovakia.

T-Mobile’s IPTV service was launched in April 2016 in the Czech Republic and is currently used by 35,000 customers.
