Vodafone Hungary preparing fixed line launch

22 Jan 2018

Mobile operator Vodafone Hungary plans to launch retail fixed line services in Hungary, reports Broadband TV News, quoting the company’s deputy CEO Gergo Budai, who was speaking to Hungarian business daily Vilaggazdasag. Budai noted that Hungary is one of the few countries in the Vodafone Group footprint without a consumer Vodafone fixed broadband/telephony service, whilst adding that the company does already provide fixed line services to corporate clients in Hungary. He underlined that a fixed network solution would become essential as the demand grows for converged services requiring both mobile and fixed infrastructure.

Vodafone Hungary lies in third place in the mobile market, with 24.6% of subscribers at the end of September 2017, behind market leader Magyar Telekom and Telenor Hungary, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
