Orange Senegal targets 50% LTE coverage by end-2018

18 Jan 2018

Orange Senegal (100% owned by Sonatel, itself a subsidiary of Orange Group) has announced that it plans to extend its 4G LTE footprint to 50% of the population by end-2018. Senegal’s leading mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers recorded 4G population coverage of 33.8% in November 2017 (with a presence in 14 departmental capitals), exceeding its initial target of 30% coverage for that year.

Sonatel also announced that it has cut internet tariffs by 50%, supporting the state project ‘Senegal Digital 2025’, which aims to increase access to the internet for as many people as possible, while also making it more affordable for customers.
