PT Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia (STI), which offers 4G services under the brand name Net1 Indonesia, is preparing to switch on its 450MHz network in Musi Banyuasin Regency, in the Muba area. The cellco, which is in the process of migrating from CDMA-450 to LTE-450, confirmed its readiness to roll out advanced mobile internet services in the region during a conference held at the district government office at the end of last month. Secretary of Communications and Informatics Office (Dinkominfo) Muba District, Dicky Meiriando, confirmed: ‘The [cellco’s] demonstration took the form of a video conference between the Muba Regent in the Command Centre Room with the sub-district heads in the sub-district office. The video conference used 4G LTE internet frequency 450MHz and is suitable for the Muba area given that it has a flat surface area’.
STI, part of the Sampoerna Strategic Group business, is already actively marketing 4G services in eastern Indonesia, with LTE infrastructure live in areas including the provinces of South Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Maluku and Bali. It has full mobility licences with national coverage. Currently, the range of STI services – CDMA and LTE – covers the islands of Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, Nusa Tenggara and Maluku.
