Cox updates on DOCSIS 3.1 progress

11 Jan 2018

Privately owned US cableco Cox Communications has announced that its DOCSIS 3.1-enabled ‘G1GABLAST’ service is now available to 40% of customers within the company’s operational footprint. Cox notes that the upgrade has already been implemented across ‘all major markets’ nationwide, and hopes to make Gigabit speeds available to 99% of households in its service areas by the end of 2019.

Cox claims to have invested more than USD15 billion in infrastructure upgrades over the last ten years, and plans to invest at least USD10 billion in the next five years, with a focus on enhancing residential and business customers’ experience.
