Govt increases mobile operators’ monthly per subscriber charge

The government of Uzbekistan has increased the amount it charges mobile network operators (MNOs) to UZS4,000 (USD0.49) a month per subscriber, which became effective on 1 January 2018, reports UzDaily. The government introduced the ‘subscriber tax’ in January 2012, initially charging mobile providers USD0.22 a month per subscriber, with the tax raised to USD0.24 a month per subscriber at the beginning of 2013.
