VNPT-Vinaphone deployed 20,000 BTS in 2017

Vietnamese fixed and mobile operator VNPT-Vinaphone has revealed it completed the deployment of more than 20,000 2G, 3G and 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) last year, increasing its total across the country to approximately 75,000. The firm said it completed the conversion of its fixed network from copper to fibre-optic technology in 2017 and ended the year with around 4.6 million fixed broadband customers. The cellco’s parent company, state-owned Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT), says the group generated revenue of VND144.7 trillion (USD6.4 billion) in 2017, an increase of 7% from the previous year, while consolidated profit exceeded VND5.0 trillion, up by 21% year-on-year.
