Telenor Hungary, the country’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, has increased outdoor population coverage of its LTE network to 99%. As a result, the Norwegian-owned operator’s 4G footprint is now available in nearly 2,700 towns and villages with a population of less than 6,000, as well as 142 larger towns and cities. Its ‘4G+’ service, which offers maximum downstream speeds of 300Mbps, now covers over 100 towns and villages following the installation of 170 new base stations this year to bring the total to more than 880. In Budapest, Telenor has installed 90 base stations using the 800MHz frequency band this year to improve indoor coverage from 83% to 88%.
