State-backed mobile provider Myanmar Post and Telecommunications (MPT) has demonstrated tri-band carrier aggregation (3C) and VoLTE technology at an event in Yangon. In addition, the telco announced that it has doubled the downlink transmission speeds available over its ‘LTE+’-branded LTE-A network, from 150Mbps to 300Mbps, via an increase in bandwidth. Going forward, MPT will extend its LTE+ footprint to 280 townships by 2018.
