22 Dec 2017

Liberty Global is planning to invest a total of USD100 million to rebuild and reinforce telecoms infrastructure in Puerto Rico, which was damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, reports local daily El Vocero. The company’s consumer services VP Waldo Hooker was cited as saying: ‘[The network] will be much stronger and more modern. We are rolling out the latest fibre-optic cable, with more capacity, to prepare for the bandwidth that Puerto Rico will need in the next ten or 20 years,’ adding that much of the infrastructure will be built underground to protect it from hurricanes.
