Telekom selects Ericsson for 5G-ready network

15 Dec 2017

German telecoms company Deutsche Telekom, which provides fixed and wireless services in its domestic market via its Telekom Deutschland unit, has selected Ericsson to modernise its mobile network with ‘5G-ready’ multi-standard solutions in one out of two market areas in Germany. The Swedish vendor states that the modernised network will bring improved network performance experience to subscribers, who will be able to benefit from a network ready for the next generation of services and network capabilities.

Under the five-year deal, Ericsson will modernise Deutsche Telekom’s 2G, 3G and 4G network with a multi-standard solution, including Radio Access Network, based on Ericsson’s Baseband 6630 product and multi-standard radios, Ericsson Network Manager for OSS, as well as hardware and software support and services.
