Uzmobile tests ZTE’s Pre5G technology

30 Nov 2017

Uzbek state-backed mobile operator Uzmobile, a division of Uzbektelecom (Uztelecom), has tested ZTE’s ‘Pre5G’ technology in Tashkent on the operator’s existing 4G LTE network, using multiple carrier aggregation, 4×4 MIMO and 256QAM architecture, claiming a first in Uzbekistan. Test results showed a data transfer rate of ‘up to 1Gbps for each user’. A press release from the cellco said it is aiming for a gradual evolution of 4G networks ‘in four directions – increasing bandwidth, Internet of Things (IoT), high user experience and cloud services – while maintaining focus on new business models and a range of services’, for a ‘smooth transition to 5G networks’.
