AT&T deploys commercial LTE-LAA in Indianapolis

17 Nov 2017

US giant AT&T has announced the commercial deployment of LTE-Licensed Assisted Access (LTE-LAA) network technology in Indianapolis, accessible to users with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 devices. The news followed the operator’s LTE-LAA field tests in San Francisco in June. Currently covering parts of downtown Indianapolis, AT&T says it plans to expand LTE-LAA coverage in more areas of the city by the end of the year, calling the technology ‘another step in our evolution to 5G’. AT&T’s trials have achieved peak wireless speeds of 979Mbps using LAA in conjunction with other technologies including 256 QAM, 4×4 MIMO and multiple carrier aggregation.
