Russian bid for MegaCom rejected; Kyrgyz state fund claims other offers on table

16 Nov 2017

The Fund for State Property Management under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (FGI) yesterday (15 November) officially stopped negotiations on the proposed sale of state-owned mobile operator MegaCom to Russian entrepreneur Elena Nagornaya, reports Kyrgyzstan news agency Tazabek. The FGI’s statement confirmed that negotiations were terminated as the parties failed to reach mutually acceptable terms of sale. The FGI’s head Bolsunbek Kazakov was quoted in a separate Tazabek article as saying, however, that there have been new offers for MegaCom (registered as Alfa Telecom) from ‘several’ thus-far unnamed companies.
