POTRAZ seeks cheaper mobile services

16 Nov 2017

The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) is in discussions with the country’s three mobile network operators (MNOs) over possible tariff reductions. ZBC reports that the regulator is in talks with Econet Wireless, NetOne and Telecel to review mobile fees in light of the difficult economic situation in Zimbabwe, to make services more affordable for consumers while also ensuring that the cellcos are not forced out of business. As part of the review, POTRAZ is looking at more effective ways for operators to share their infrastructure to keep their investment costs down, with the savings passed on to the consumer.
