Uzmobile reaches a million GSM users

14 Nov 2017

Uzbek cellco Uzmobile, a subsidiary of national fixed operator Uzbektelecom, has announced that it reached the milestone of one million GSM network subscribers in the first week of November 2017. Formerly based solely on CDMA-450 technology, Uzmobile launched GSM and 3G W-CDMA services in April 2015, signing up its millionth GSM-based customer after two-and-a-half years, whilst it continues to operate CDMA-450 services, and has recently deployed 4G LTE infrastructure. The state-backed cellco, which previously claimed a combined GSM-and-CDMA subscriber of one million in April this year, remains in fourth place in Uzbekistan’s cellular market with around 5% of subscribers.
