MTN Cyprus completes EUR23m network expansion project

MTN Cyprus has expanded its 4G LTE mobile coverage to 93% of the population and 75% of the territory, following the completion of a EUR23 million (USD26.8 million) expansion project. Under the latest works, MTN expanded its 4G network to more than 200 locations, including Kato Pyrgos, Dierona, Polemi, Argaka, Asgata, Trachoni, Tersefanou, Menoiko, Tsada, Pegeia, Drousia Eptagonia, Panw Kyvides, Pachna, Kolossi, Erimi and Palodia. The company said that it also improved its 3G footprint, with UMTS services now covering 99% of the population and 95% of the territory. MTN CEO Phillip Van Dalsen said: ‘With the largest investment we have ever made in our network, we are establishing our position as a leading power in Cypriot telecoms and providing subscribers with even higher quality services. Today we are the network with the largest 4G population and geographical coverage across the country, while expanding and our proprietary fibre-optic network.’
