Singapore Internet Exchange establishes PoP within Keppel DC Singapore 1

7 Nov 2017

The Strait Times reports that Singapore Internet Exchange (SGIX), a vendor-neutral provider of internet exchange services, has established a point of presence (PoP) within the Keppel DC Singapore 1 data centre to further enhance network connectivity in Singapore. Under the tie-up, Keppel Data Centres’ users will now be able to connect to SGIX with reduced latency and lower operating costs, by dint of the streamlining of internet connections. In addition, SGIX users will also ‘benefit from high speed extensive global connectivity offered by other international and regional services providers that have partnered SGIX,’ it said. The peering platform in Keppel DC Singapore 1 was completed in October, bringing SGIX’s internet peering points in Singapore to four. The SGIX was incorporated and established by key players in the local telecoms market and supported by the Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA).
