Chinese vendor ZTE Corporation has announced that it recently supported Malaysian mobile broadband provider webe on the deployment of a virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) network. According to ZTE, it provided webe with ‘a full range of systems from underlying hardware, virtualisation platform, to upper layer applications’, while to address customer needs, it said it had designed a solution which allows the vEPC system and webe’s legacy EPC network to form a hybrid network featuring elasticity and on-demand deployment. It has been claimed that the new virtual core network will enable webe to reduce its costs for operation and maintenance.
