Euskaltel, the leading convergent telecoms group in Northern Spain, has confirmed that its DOCSIS 3.1 network now covers 50% of its overall cable network footprint in the Basque Country. Going forward, the operator has confirmed that plans are now underway to extend DOCSIS 3.1 connectivity to Galicia and Asturias, where it has acquired fellow alternative operators R Cable (Galicia, November 2015) and Telecable (Asturias, July 2017).
As at 30 September 2017 – two months after the full integration of Telecable into the Euskaltel Group – the enlarged business noted that it had recorded revenue growth of 3.2%, reporting a top-line of EUR444.0 million (USD516.9 million) for the first nine months of 2017, compared to EUR430.4 million in the year-ago period. The takeover also boosted the cableco’s consolidated MVNO user base, which increased to 915,000 by the end of the third quarter.
