TM inks backhaul deal with edotco for Malaysia

26 Oct 2017

Telekom Malaysia™ has entered into an agreement with tower infrastructure company edotco under which it will provide its Next Generation Backhaul (NGBH) services for connectivity between mobile network operators’ (MNOs’) cell sites and their core network at edotco’s identified ground-based tower sites in selected areas of Malaysia. Further, TM and edotco have confirmed they will also explore opportunities to provide common infrastructure in ‘identified dense urban areas other than Putrajaya’. It was noted, however, that the collaboration is subject to a definitive agreement that is expected to be finalised within six months of the pair signing of an initial term sheet.

Commenting on the deal, TM CEO Dato’ Sri Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly said: ‘This partnership allows us to share and converge our capabilities towards accelerating Malaysia to be digitally connected. TM is also committed to support the Government’s aspiration in providing better broadband access to Malaysians nationwide and further embrace smart solutions by offering next generation services.’ edotco’s Chief Country Officer for Malaysia, Wan Zainal Adileen, added: ‘Collaborating with TM marks another milestone in edotco Malaysia’s mission to innovate the telecommunications industry with smart infrastructure. We are excited about synergising our skill sets and are looking to fiberise more sites in the next three years.’
