29 Sep 2017

Viva Bahrain has announced that it has successfully tested and deployed what it claims is the ‘world’s first’ advanced telecommunications computing architecture-network functions virtualisation (ATCA-NFV) hybrid cloud core network, in association with Chinese vendor Huawei. The two parties have been working in tandem since 2016, as they have sought to deploy a unified cloud platform which lays a solid foundation for future network development.

Ulaiyan Al Wetaid, CEO of Viva Bahrain, commented: ‘Through this NFV cloud achievement, we are laying the foundation for further milestones in preparation for the network slicing technology to serve the next generation network in 2020, along with our partner Huawei Technologies.’
