State-owned Bolivian telco Entel has announced that it has extended its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to ten new cities so far this month. The new locations served are as follows: Villa Tunari, Shinahota, Chimore, Ivirgarzama, Entre Rios and Vinto (all Cochabamba Department); Tupiza, Uyuni and Villazon (all Potosi Department) and Monteagudo (Chuquisaca Department).

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Entel unveiled the commercial launch of its FTTH network in May this year. Fibre-based internet services can be taken as a standalone product or can be bundled with fixed telephony, VoIP, TV and/or mobile services, and the network supports downlink transmission speeds of up to 20Mbps (residential users) and 50Mbps (corporate customers).
