State-owned telecom provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced plans to invest INR60 billion (USD937 million) over the next two years to expand its mobile network. Telecomtalk cites BSNL Chairman Anupam Shrivastava as saying that the company will deploy 40,000 new base transceiver stations (BTS) over that period. The company has started the process of awarding contract to vendors, with Finnish firm Nokia and ZTE of China emerging in first and second place, respectively.
