7 Sep 2017

Block Communications, a diversified media holding company with telecoms operations in northern Mississippi and Alabama, has announced that it has acquired the assets of Ripley Video Cable, a cable and broadband services provider in north-central Mississippi, through its MaxxSouth Broadband subsidiary. Ripley Video Cable provides cable TV, broadband and digital voice services to residential and commercial customers in the towns of Ripley, Blue Mountain, Falkner and Pine Grove, all within Tippah County, Mississippi. The transaction is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2017, upon receipt of regulatory approvals.

MaxxSouth Broadband was created in 2014, when Block acquired the former Harron Communications (MetroCast) properties in Mississippi and Alabama. Aside from MaxxSouth, Block also owns and operates Buckeye Broadband, its cable system serving the Toledo and Sandusky, Ohio metropolitan areas, and Buckeye Telesystem, its facilities-based telecommunications business serving commercial customers primarily in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
