Tele2 boosts LTE-A coverage to 70% of Latvians

Tele2 Latvia says it has installed almost 300 new LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) and tri-band carrier aggregation (3C) LTE-A base stations across the country so far this year. The deployments have increased coverage of the cellco’s LTE-A network (dubbed ‘4G+’) to 70% of the population, while the 3C LTE-A (‘4G++’) footprint now covers Riga, Jelgava, Cesis, Marupe, Kuldiga, Liepaja, Saldus, Ventspils, Jurmala, Aizkraukle, Preiļi, Rezekne, Jekabpils, Ogre, Daugavpils, Salaspils, Olaine and Sigulda. Tele2 has earmarked investment of EUR3 million (USD3.6 million) this year for the construction of new LTE-A base stations and network capacity improvements.
