nbn publishes corporate plan for 2018-2021

31 Aug 2017

In publishing its corporate plan for the period 2018-2021, nbn, the company overseeing Australia’s National Broadband Network (NBN) project, has for the first time revealed its operational expectations for the business once the infrastructure rollout is complete.

With the NBN construction expected to be complete in 2020, nbn has said it expects to be cash flow positive in FY 2021 (the period ending 30 June 2021), forecasting annual revenues of AUD5.4 billion (USD4.3 billion) from around 8.6 million active users. In addition, the company expects to generate monthly ARPU of AUD52 per month.

Meanwhile, with nbn having said that it remains on track to finish the network build as planned in 2020, it has also revealed that it now expects the rollout to be 97% complete by end-June 2019, in part due to it bringing forward the construction dates for around 200,000 premises, but also as a result of geospatial mapping accuracy, which now predicts there will be 300,000 fewer premises in existence in Australia by mid-2020.
