29 Aug 2017

Russian telecoms group Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has booked turnover of RUB106.8 billion (USD1.8 billion) for the three months ended 30 June 2017, up 0.7% year-on-year. The group, which operates in Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Turkmenistan and Belarus, reported an 8.2% increase in OIBDA, to RUB44.0 billion, which it attributed to a growth in usage and improved efficiency in its retail operations and roaming. Net profit meanwhile was up 62.6% y-o-y to RUB14.7 billion, bolstered by the higher OIBDA, and a reduction in interest expenses. MTS counted a total of 107.8 million wireless subscribers, up from 107.6 million twelve months earlier, but down from 108.8 million in March 2017.
