Oi 2Q17 revenues slump 10.5%

11 Aug 2017

Brazilian telecoms operator Oi has reported total net revenues of BRL5.8 billion (USD1.8 billion) for the second quarter of 2017, down 10.5% from BRL6.5 billion in 2Q16. The telco attributes the weakened top-line to a variety of factors, including: cuts in the regulated interconnection prices, the natural downward trend in fixed voice traffic and a reduction in revenues in the B2B segment. EBITDA for 2Q17 increased 12.7%, however, to BRL1.6 billion, while Oi reported a net loss of BRL3.3 billion for the second quarter, compared to a loss of BRL822 million in the year-ago period.
