Movistar adds Manta to 4G LTE network

Ecuador’s second largest mobile provider by subscribers, Telefonica-owned Movistar has added the city of Manta to its 4G LTE network, writes EcuadorUniversitario.com. The addition of Manta takes the company’s 4G coverage up to eleven cities nationwide as Movistar attempts to catch up with leading wireless provider Claro.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Movistar launched its 4G LTE network in Ecuador in May 2015 and now has more than 672 base transceiver stations (BTS) across the country.
