Hong Kong-based multi-industry group CK Hutchison, whose telecoms interests include operations in Europe and Asia, has reported overall revenues of HKD190.1 billion (USD24.3 billion) for the first six months of 2017, up 5% year-on-year. Its telecoms businesses brought in HKD42.1 billion, up from HKD39.5 billion in H1 2016, including HKD33.2 billion from 3 Group Europe, HKD5.1 billion from domestic subsidiary Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings (HTHKH), and HKD3.8 billion from Hutchison Asia Telecommunications (HAT). Overall EBITDA climbed 2% to HKD45.3 billion, with telecoms accounting for HKD12.8 billion, up from HKD11.1 billion in the year-earlier period. Group net profit attributable to shareholders was up 7% year-on-year at HKD15.9 billion.
In operational terms, 3 Group Europe claimed 45.25 million active subscribers at the end of June, including 27.13 million in Italy and 9.99 million in the UK. The group also had 3.27 million customers in its home market of Hong Kong, plus 5.7 million at Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) and 75.32 million in its other Asian markets.
