Singtel taps Ericsson for small cells deployment

31 Jul 2017

Singaporean operator Singtel has selected Ericsson of Sweden to supply it with a small cell solution, including the pico RBS 6402 and the Radio Dot System, across the city-state to boost mobile user experience in both indoor and outdoor high-traffic locations, such as shopping malls and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations. Under the deployment, Ericsson will install small cells at over 100 locations across the island before the end of 2017, providing additional capacity to Singtel’s LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network. Ericsson’s network enhancement should provide Singtel users with a seamless and enhanced mobile experience, up to 50% faster than current surfing speeds in those high-traffic locations. The agreement will also include the progressive expansion of Singtel Wi-Fi hot spots, it said.
