Uzmobile aiming for nationwide LTE coverage by end-2018

25 Jul 2017

State-owned mobile provider Uzmobile is planning to roll out 4G LTE services to all regions of Uzbekistan by the end of next year, Sputnik news writes, citing the operator’s director general, Vladimir Kravchenko. To achieve this target, the cellco will deploy a total of 11,000 LTE-enabled base transceiver stations. The rollout would represent the first nationwide deployment of 4G in Uzbekistan, as the LTE networks installed by Uzmobile’s rivals are currently limited to Tashkent and Samarkand. Mr Kravchenko added that the government-backed company had been ‘released from licensing procedures due to the fact that we need to develop quickly’.
