Lonestar Cell-MTN builds new towers in Grand Kru County

Lonestar Cell-MTN, the Liberian mobile operator 60%-owned by the South Africa-based MTN Group, has installed five new mobile masts in Grand Kru County, southeast Liberia, bringing to six the total number of towers erected in the region and helping the GSM operator boost coverage there to 90% of its inhabitants. The cell sites have been deployed in strategic locations at Grand Cess, Zodoken, Garraway, BuahGeeken and Wakpoh, The New Dawn reports. Going forward, Lonestar Cell-MTN plans to deploy another tower in Juanyen, Sinoe County.

Since it launched in July 2001, Lonestar Cell-MTN has expanded its service coverage to all parts of the country and amassed more than 1.5 million subscribers for voice and data services.
