Vodacom Congo has confirmed via social media that a fire at its Kinshasa office was the cause of a nationwide network outage over the weekend. Vodacom’s network went down on 8 July and was reportedly active again around 24 hours later, with a spokesperson for the company saying yesterday that the system was 90% restored. Nevertheless, customers continue to report connection and service issues, and Vodacom has pledged to keep its retail outlets and customer service lines open beyond their usual hours to address problems.
