velcom provides ‘Comfort’ with unlimited 3G calls plan

22 Jun 2017

Mobile Digital Communications (MDC), which trades as velcom, has launched an unlimited voice calls plan to all 3G users on its network. Until now, the Belarusian operator has given its subscribers unlimited on-net voice calls on the network, but through the new ‘Comfort’ plan, is now providing the same for off-net calls too. velcom’s 3G mobile network currently covers 95.2% of the territory of Belarus , up from 94.1% previously, and users can sign up to the BYN4.50 (USD2.35) Comfort plan by entering a USSD-request from their phone.

Earlier this month the Telekom Austria Group-owned subsidiary released an update on its 3G network rollout programme, confirming that its recent efforts to expand its network footprint have been bolstered by the use of UMTS-900, adding no fewer than 649 base stations in the lower band, with a focus on Minsk (191 new stations) and Grodno (124), as well as increasing the quality of 3G communication and mobile internet sites in Baranovichi, Polotsk, Osipovichi, Bobruisk and Novogrudok. In total, velcom now has approximately 3,500 3G base stations on-air, supporting HD voice in both urban and rural areas.
