Vivendi takes Agcom fight to regional tribunal

French media group Vivendi has filed an appeal with the regional administrative court (Tribunale Amministrativo Regionale, TAR) in Lazio against a decision by the Italian regulator Agcom requiring it to decrease its influence at either Telecom Italia or Mediaset, Reuters reports. Vivendi, which owns around 24% of Telecom Italia and almost 29% of pay-TV firm Mediaset, has already won the backing of the European Commission (EC) to maintain its stakes in the two Italian companies after offering to sell off Telecom Italia’s 70% interest in broadcasting services provider Persidera. Vivendi has also said it will cap its voting rights at Mediaset at 9.99% pending the outcome of the legal appeal.
